Pavlossus
Pavlossus is known as the “patron of strength and might.” His element is cold and is responsible for setting the world in an eternal winter several times throughout the history. He’s a giant ox with white fur that only inhabits places with extremely low temperatures. Thanks to his fur, he can camouflage himself and disappear from any being’s sight whenever there’s a snowstorm.

Pavlossus not only is capable of controlling cold, but is also the mightiest being in existence. Although his horns seem to be made of ice, they’re unbreakable and can penetrate even the hardest of metals. Pavlossus doesn't like hot places, but he’s capable of surviving in the highest temperatures. Thus, regular fire or heat isn’t enough to damage him.

History
No one knows when Pavlossus exactly appeared. Although he is present in ancient stories, he’s also characterized for disappearing between long periods. Pavlossus only takes part in events where he feels his presence is strictly necessary.

Pavlossus is responsible for the extinction of phoenixes. He has an overprotective personality, and since the giant fire birds left a path of destruction wherever they flew, he perceived them as threats and decided to get rid of them. After traveling for miles, he finally arrived at the Devil’s Cauldron and summoned the strongest snowstorm the world had seen. The volcano stopped it’s activity, and most phoenixes died.

However, he didn’t foresee that one of them would be capable of surviving, Faustina, and both of them had their first confrontation when she was just a hatchling. Although the newborn phoenix tackled him, it wasn’t enough to melt Pavlossus’ strength. Still, his fur was severely damaged and the giant ox started hibernating in an unknown place until the next time the world needed him.

Only a phoenix can harm a deity like Pavlossus, and vice versa. As of now, both of them are rivals, and although they’ve battled a few times due to disagreements, they know what role each other plays in the world and never aim to kill.

Appearance
Pavlossus is a humanoid ox with blue skin. A great part of his body is covered in white fur, including his beard, back, chest and legs. Both his horns and hooves are made of unbreakable ice and can freeze anyone that dares to touch them. Plus, he always wears a tribal outfit with patterns from an ancient civilization. His expression is neutral most of the time, honoring the element he's patron of.

Abilities
Pavlossus' body is permanently giving off a cold aura. Thus, he frozen the path where he walks. Despite that, this power doesn't extend beyond his own body perimeter unless he chooses to. This same cold aura makes Pavlossus' body extremely cold to the touch. Any being or item that touches it will become frozen within a few seconds. Pavlossus is also capable of breathing icy wind. His horns are diamond hard, and can penetrate any surface with little effort. Most of the time, Pavlossus shuts off and becomes a cocoon that resembles an ice crystal. He's still aware of what happens on his territory as he's connected to icy environments.
Faustina, Deity of Luck
Faustina is the Deity of Luck and the last phoenix alive. Her body is warm to the touch, and her feathers are capable of turning up in flames when she chooses to do so. As the Deity of Luck, Faustina is the patroness of those that take risks. Many adventurers out there wouldn’t had been able to keep living without her blessing. However, her luck spell doesn’t work for everyone. It is said that if you find one of her feathers and it burns down in your hands, you’ll be cursed forever.

History
Expelled from the rest of the world
Centuries ago, a race of gigantic birds with the ability of producing fire through their feathers lived in harmony in a volcanic zone known as the "Devil's Cauldron." The area was so hot that any life form that entered it would die instantly. Contrary to this, phoenixes were able to survive perfectly in such hostile conditions, but their lifestyle was deemed as “chaotic” by others due to their destructive nature.

Phoenixes left a path of ashes at any place they flew through. As the Devil’s Cauldron was surrounded by a gigantic forest zone covered in snow, Pavlossus expelled them from such an area and forbid them from leaving that zone until they learned how to control their powers.

However, phoenixes never learned how to stop producing fire and weren’t able to leave that volcanic area in centuries.

A snowstorm at the Devil’s Cauldron
All phoenixes lived in harmony without an established hierarchy. Nevertheless, there was a particular family that had lived longer in that place. Hernia and Gungnir had been a couple for several centuries. However, they hadn’t been able to hatchlings.

While other mothers cared for their hatchlings and taught them how to fly, Hernia looked at them from the distance, wishing that one day she would be blessed with one. Still, time continued passing and her nest never became a home for a new phoenix.

One day, it started snowing unexpectedly at the Devil’s Cauldron. It didn’t make any sense for anyone – how it was possible that an active volcanic zone where only clouds of ashes appear would experience snowfall? As each family retreated to their nests, the volcanoes started calming down. All of sudden, the lava levels started going down and the heat was less.

Gungnir inspected the volcano’s surroundings and saw many phoenix corpses in the area. As a phoenix is covered in flames most of the time, when something extinguish them their life-force disappears and they die instantly.

The hail became a snowstorm in little time. However, there’s always something good out of a crisis – Hernia was capable of laying an egg! As their nest was in the deepest zone of the volcano, she and her child were safe from the snowstorm’s effects. Gungnir hadn’t come home in days, and although Hernia was worried, she couldn’t leave her egg alone.

A miracle
Overtime, the snowstorm became stronger and phoenixes started dying one by one. The snow melted and hardened the lava, which eventually became solid rock. Hernia continued taking care of her egg, even if she was mourning her long-time partner. She started dying slowly and the fire in her feathers started disappearing.

As her heart stopped beating, the hatchling was finally strong enough to break the eggshell. Before her heart stopped beating, Hernia named her hatchling Faustina, and with her last breath she was able to ignite the fire in her newborn’s feathers.

The patroness of those that take risks
A phoenix’s fire is the strongest when it is a hatchling. Although she saw her mother die, Faustina flew out of the volcano and spread her wings at the top of the mountain, causing the snowstorm to stop. To her surprise, a buffalo was standing there, Pavlossus.

Faustina, still mourning her mother’s death, attacked Pavlossus, only for him to resist the hit. However, her fire was strong enough to penetrate through his deep hair layer and burn part of it. This marked the first of many encounters that Pavlossus and Faustina had over time, but the former decided to retreat as he already complied with his objective: erasing from existence a race that put in danger the rest of the world.

As people witnessed Faustina’s courage, they baptized her as “the patroness of those that take risks” as she battled against a powerful deity even if that put her life in danger. Her new worshippers granted her a place as a deity, and since then, Faustina continues flying through the world blessing or cursing adventurers based on the decisions they take in their journey.

Appearance
Faustina is a humanoid bird with glowing orange wings. She uses a white dress adorned with golden patterns and ornaments. Her presence transmits warmth and refuge. Still, her big size is quite intimadting and lets everyone know her imposing authority. The shine emitted by the gold ornaments on her dress gives the illusion of a shooting star whenever she's flying through the skies.

Abilities
Faustina is capable of combusting her wings and covering herself in flames. Unlike regular fire, it is impossible to extinguish. A power of similar caliber is required to shut off a phoenix's flame.

She's also capable of breathing flames. However, once the flames penetrate the common land, they start losing their magic slowly.

Each feather is alive and connected to Faustina, allowing herto bless or curse adventurers, based on what she senses on their souls. If someone encounters one of her feathers and it continues to burn even after they grab it, that means the adventurer has earned her protection. However, if the feather turns to ashes, the adventurer is about to experience a series of unfortunate events unless they find a way of breaking the curse.
Graph Paper
Graph paper will be more useful to you than regular paper during your adventure in Dicey Dangers. It will help you organize each movement and keep records of everything that has happened throughout the adventure.
Skill Checks are utilized during certain gameplay mechanics, including spells and other similar abilities. They consist in rolling the white dice as many times as the primary skill, and depending on the successes you get, something will happen. The effects vary on the spell and the ability. For instance, the spell Detect Lie uses Social Skill Checks, and for each sucess, determines if someone is lying or telling the truth.

Roll dice equal to the Rank of skill: Mind, Reflex, Body, Luck, & Social. Check the successes, and something interesting may happen.
Combat is one of the most prominent features in Dicey Dangers. It's very unlikely for you to go on an adventure without getting involved in at least one battle. Therefore, being familiar with the mechanics related to combat will help you defend yourself against the potential foes that may pose a threat to you.

There are three main aspects of combat to learn, which are explained below.

Influence
Before combatting you may make an Influence check against a Monster Influence and check the Monsters reaction table.
Hero Attack Phase
For each round of combat make a Hero Attack check (White Dice + Color Dice) vs the Monsters Defense (White Dice + Any color die used in the attack)
Dicey Dangers Core Rule Book
The Core Rule Book contains all the information you need to start and continue your campaign in the Dicey Dangers world. You will find different sub-categories, each of which is dedicated to a different aspect of the game.

The gameplay is divided in different aspects, and the Core Rule Book serves as a guide through each of these elements, including the diverse characteristics that compose your character. There is also information regarding the mechanics related to the items, which includes but is not limited to weapons.

You will also encounter information about what's waiting for you in this world. What kind of deities will look after you? What kind of monsters will you battle? What companions will you make during your journey? This book contains all the answers to these questions, and more.

Sections
The Core Rule Book is divided into six different sections, each of which explains a specific aspect of the gameplay.

Hero Record Shee
The Hero Record Sheet will provide you with all the information you need to build your character. It is divided into two main sections:

* All attributes can be found within the Primary Attribute category.
* The "Keywords" sections will show you all the information regarding the heritages and its traits, as well as classes and alignment traits. Keywords refer to a specific feature or aspect related to a character, an item or a mechanic.

Monster Definition
The Monster Definition page describes how monsters act during the combat, or perhaps how you can use them to your advantage during your campaign.

Item
As the title suggests, this section will provide you with all the information you need related the usage and craft of items. You will find organized information regarding weapons, accessories and more common items that can be useful for you during your adventure.

Spells
There are six schools of magic in the world of Dicey Dangers, each of which is defined by one of the following spell types:

* Alteration
* Conjuration
* Destruction
* Enchanting
* Illusion
* Restoration

After reading each section, you can proceed to decide the path your character will take. Will they prefer destruction over restoration, or perhaps will they trick others through the use of illusion?

Combat & Treat Dice
The "Combat" section explains the essentials of combat and how your character can react whenever they enter into a battle. Additonally, the "Threat Dice" allows monsters to use certain attacks. It's recommended to go through the monster section before going through the Threat Dice category.
Demetra, Deity of Death
Demetra is a dragon whose eyes emanate a poisonous mist constantly, which makes her unapproachable by regular beings. Despite her intimidating appearance, Demetra is at a tranquil mind state most of time, but her sadness is triggered whenever she senses that someone is about to die.

Instead of making death a painful process, Demetra's poisonous mist is also somniferous. This way, she helps other people transition from one life to the next peacefully.

It is unknown for everyone what the destiny of the souls that fall under Demetra's death spell is. Some say that she eats their souls to end their suffering, while others believe that they’re sent to a spirit asylum where they can figure out what the next step for their souls will be.

If you find a brown scale near a dying person, Demetra has already visited them. Thus, the death process is irreversible and they will soon be covered in the dragon’s poisonous mist.

History
Demetra is a primordial deity. She was born simultaneously with the world and represents part of the balance there is between creation and destruction. While she has almost no participation in major events, she's always around when something or someone is about to go to the next life and helps them with the transition. Since there is no way of measuring how many people or beings die on a daily basis, it is said that Demetra has divided her body in multiple versions of herself, allowing her to be around at the exact moment of death.

Appearance
Demetra is a dragon with an elongated body covered in dark brown scales. Her eyes are completely black, and are constantly giving off poisonous mist. As she’s always moving through the sky, her body is often mistaken by a cloud.

Since she does not possess wings, Demetra can’t fly. However, she has mastered the art of levitating, which makes her capable of moving through air or land as she pleases.

Demetra’s claws are sharp as blades. Despite having excellent combat abilities, she despises violence.

Abilities
Demetra can breathe poisonous mist. Her poison is not painful. It has somniferous properties, which means that the victim always falls asleep first. Then, the toxines start acting and slowly disintegrate the body from the inside.

She's also capable of levitating. However, unlike Raiden, she can't travel at high velocities, but can open portals to different places whenever she needs it. Rumour has it that have a dark origin, but not much can be said about a deity that only appears when you're about to die.

Raiden is the Deity of Reflex. However, in ancient times, he was the king of an ancient elven empire until it fell down due to the poor decisions he took throughout his journey. He was a tyrant emperor that didn’t care about anything else but his own desires, but time taught him a lesson and he ended up being cursed with immortality by a witch.

Once a fierce warrior, Raiden’s combat abilities were exceptional. He used swift sword movements to fulminate his opponents, which granted him the nickname of “dancing swordsman.”

After he became an immortal, Raiden started wandering through the world looking for ways to end his life. He tried everything you could think of, but nothing worked as his body always regenerated. One day, he was struck by lightning, but thanks to his immortality, his body was infused with electricity instead.

With the reflexes of a feline and the ability of controlling lighting, many descendants of his old subordinates started venerating him as the Deity of Reflex. Now he lives in the ruins of his old castle, waiting for a worthy opponent who's capable of giving of him a dignified death.

History
Most records of Raiden’s history were erased by himself in an attempt of recovering his reputation as a “benevolent emperor.” However, his efforts were useless as gossip spreads quicker than an illness among people. It is unknown whether he was a tyrant all the time or if at some point it was corrupted. It is said that the witch he hired as a legal advisor ended up manipulating him with spells.

At some point, Raiden ended up killing the witch to avoid suffering the effects of her magic in the long term. However, at that point, he was already immortal and his efforts were useless.

Raiden observed how his wife, children and friends suffered painful deaths by the rival empire. All this burden caused him to become depressed, and the most pessimistic side of his took over his soul. He became obsessed with his own death and started looking for ways to cease existing.

After many suicide attempts, Raiden decided to try throwing himself into an active volcano. To add more bad luck to his background, the only active volcano at that time was intervened by Pavlossus; it was now another cold mountain where snow fell all day.

However, not everything was lost. He was lucky to watch Faustina and Pavlossus’ first battle, and after the phoenix’s tackled the giant ox, the hit plucked out some feathers from her. One of those feathers reached out to Raiden, and he was blessed with Faustina’s Flavor. Although it didn’t cure his immortality, it had an effect on his psyche and started seeing the world with different eyes.

Now, he’s looking forward to making amends for his mistakes and although he barely leaves his castle, any person that encounters him will be blessed with a minimum portion of his power.

Appearance
Raiden has the typical appearance of an elf, but due to his age, his hair is now white. Other aspects of his body haven't changed at all. Only a few ones have been lucky to see his face, but now he hides from the world in a purple armor that resembles that of a samurai. He's taller than the average elf, and his body is always covered in a slight electric aura that can kill insects and small animals if they approach him.

Abilities
Raiden's body is completely infused with thunder. Thus, he's able to control it at will, infuse other objects with it and grant the same ability to other beings by transferring a small portion of his power. Furthermore, he's capable of levitating and moving at very high speeds. Combined with his expertise in swordsmanship, the person with the power to defeat him is yet to be born.
The Invisible Ones
The Invisible Ones are a group of seven beings worshipped as the Deity of Social, The nature of The Invisible Ones is left unclear, though it is hinted that they may be extraterrestrials, or beings akin to the Great Old Ones in the works of H. P. Lovecraft. The star Sirius is of particular astrological significance to The Invisible Ones, with clues identifying it as their place of origin. It is during the so-called Dog Days of August, when Sirius is in conjunction with the Sun that their influence over mankind is at its apex. By subtly influencing the minds of men, the beings are said to be "playing with our history as if it's a game", affecting events in world history over the course of centuries.

History
The origins of The Invisible Ones are still subject to debate. However, it has been known that each member is in charge of controlling a specific emotion:

· Joy, which is represented by the color yellow and is the only positive emotion controlled by The Invisible Ones.

· Sadness, which is represented by the color blue.

· Rage, which is represented by the color red.

· Fear, which is represented by the color black.

· Surprise, which is represented by the color white and is also the neutral point between all emotions.

· Disgust, which is represented by the color green.

· Contempt, which is represented by the color purple.

Each of these emotions are stronger during specific seasons of the year. This phenomenon is clearly visible in the sky, as each star has a place assigned and bright the strongest when their influence becomes more accentuated.

Over the course of history, The Invisible Ones have been deciding the destiny of mankind, keeping track of their progress in a book known as the “Alma Primis.” The writings are in charge of Surprise due to its neutral nature. However, as emotions can happen simultaneously, other beings can influence it and change the course of history, giving as a result major events that maintain this life interesting.

Appearance
No one knows how The Invisible Ones look like. However, ancient writings describe them as seven beings, each of a different race, that speak in unison and wear white robes. It is said that the color of their skin is related to the emotion they rule, but most of the imagery found depict them as black silhouettes altogether.

Abilities
The Invisible Ones' abilities are uknown, but it is clear that each of them have influence on the psyche. It is speculated that, besides control over the emotions, they also seem to have power over certain catastrophes. This way, they have been able to modify the course of history to its will not only by moving the strings among the mankind.

Appearance
Faustina is a gigantic bird with white, yellow and orange feathers covering its body. Her appearance resembles a harpy eagle, but the wings on her crown are more accentuated, almost as if she was wearing jewelry.

Koyous, Deity of Mind
Koyous is the manifestation of all the knowledge accumulated in the world. Its origins are unknown, but it is said that it began to grow slowly as the species started acquiring more intelligence. Others add that it replaced the actual deity by absorbing it into its infinite body.

History
The exact moment when Koyous appeared is unknown. Ancient books describe him as an omniprescent being that came to life once the primitive life began acquiring sentience. Others describe him as a particular schoolar that discovered a power that allowed him to unlock the full potential of his mind. However, it is uncertain whether these versions are veridic. The truth is that Koyous hasn't been seen in thousands of years.

Thanks to its possession ability, Koyous has acquired a few humanoid forms throughout the history. This fact has made a major part of his followers divided, as some believe it shows itself as a tall, pale and white-haired elf with black eyes while others deem it is an elder human wearing a long black tunic that covers his whole body and most of his face, except for a long white beard.

Koyous barely has participation in the real world's events. All it does is mimic the physical development and expansion that each race has achieved to perform the same in his own world. He aims to achieve its concept of perfection.

Appearance
Unlike most deities, Koyous doesn’t show itself in an animal or humanoid form. It is a floating black sphere that wanders in a different dimension, which is a perfect reflection of the real world.

Koyous can possess bodies and use them as an extension of his own self. His own body is still found at the very core of his dimension,.

The truth is that Koyous doesn’t have a specific humanoid form. Although it hasn’t visited “the real world” in quite a while, it is said that the beings described above (among many others) wander through the world. They collect information about the latest advancements and changes it has suffered so Koyous can update its dimension and keep it as a carbon copy of that realm.

When one of its hosts dies for any reason, it will quickly replace it by possessing the nearest living creature. This is the motive why many believers think that “it is everything and nothing at the same time.”

Abilities
As the Deity of Mind, most of its abilities are related to the intellect and psyche.

Koyous is capable of possessing living beings. As its body is infinite, it can possess multiple creatures simultaneously and give them all total autonomy.

Even if it cannot see the future, Koyous is capable of predicting what will happen next by running infinite scenarios simultaneously. This way, it can choose what the best action is so it can continue following the path towards perfection.

Koyous can perceive if something has a magical origin. Adventurers can borrow this ability by casting the spell "Koyous Eye."

Appearance
Pavlossus shows himself in the form of a giant ox covered in white fur. The lower part of his head is covered with abundant hair, mimicking a beard, which differs from the rest of his body due to its light cyan color. His horns resemble icicles, and are extremely cold to the touch. Any being that touches them will end up turning into ice.

Like his horns, his hoofs appear to be made of ice and leave a path of snow wherever he walks. You know Pavlossus is near if you see shiny snowflakes falling from the sky.

Whenever Pavlossus hibernates, he covers himself in an impenetrable shield of ice that resembles a cocoon.

Most of the time, Pavlossus shuts off and becomes a coccoon that ressembles an ice crystal. He's still aware of what happens on his territory as he's connected to icy environments.
Coming back from the dead is possible, but only if you're willing to sacrifice your flesh in the process. Still, reviving as a skeleton doesn't seem that bad, at least people will have to work twice as hard to get rid of you. If dying isn't within your plans, perhaps you can summon one of these undead creatures to aid you in battle or during your adventure. Who knows? Thus, you will be able to command them and make them act as you please - at least for a short period.
