Dwarves have earned this nickname by 'chalking up' their hands with the dirt and dust they've gathered from the gravel to get a better grip on their weapon. Having lived and worked in mining sites ever since they could walk, they know how easy it is to lose their weapon with one swing–especially with their small statures. Some may say unhygienic, but for them, it's all about efficiency.
