Something bound itself to the rubble long before the ratlings ever moved in, and it hasn't let go since. It has no clear shape, just a shifting mass of dust and broken stone with a presence behind it, cold enough to feel from several feet away.

It isn't fully here. Ordinary steel passes through more of it than it should.
