Bruce 'Hammerhand' Hugh
The backbone of the Elite Destroyers—literally and figuratively. While the others dream big and act bigger, Bruce is the one who keeps their plans (and supplies) grounded in reality. Stocky, sturdy, and perpetually carrying a massive sack of gear that’s twice his size, he’s the group’s unsung hero. His nickname, Hammerhand, comes from his favorite tool: a heavy hammer that’s more useful for pounding spikes into walls or breaking stubborn locks than it is for fighting monsters. Bruce takes his role as the group’s "supplier and handyman" very seriously, often muttering phrases like, “If you want something done right, you’ve got to do it yourself.”
Bruce’s outfit is a patchwork of functionality, cobbled together from scavenged armor pieces, an oversized leather apron, and countless pockets and pouches bulging with tools, snacks, and random dungeon junk. His belt jingles with nails, spikes, and bits of string, while his massive pack overflows with essentials like rope, flasks, chalk, and—oddly—what looks like a frying pan. He’s the only one who seems to understand the importance of being prepared, a fact he reminds his friends of constantly. “You’d all be lost without me!” is his frequent grumble, often accompanied by an exaggerated roll of his eyes as he digs through his pack to find the exact thing the group needs.
While practical and no-nonsense most of the time, Bruce isn’t entirely immune to the chaotic energy of the group. He’s got a sly sense of humor and takes a certain pride in how much the others rely on him. When things go wrong (as they often do), he’s the first to step in, hammer in hand, to fix the mess—whether it’s mending a broken trap, saving the youngest member from certain doom, or “negotiating” with a disgruntled monster using a combination of brute strength and stubborn practicality. Though he doesn’t show it much, Bruce has a soft spot for his friends, often going above and beyond to ensure they’re safe and have what they need. He’s the steady force that keeps the Elite Destroyers moving forward, even if he’s grumbling the entire way.
