A ratling sits alone in the dark ahead, unaware it's being watched, and for one unguarded moment its shape doesn't hold steady. Something shifts along the jaw, the shoulders, gone again almost before you register it, like a held breath finally let out and pulled back in.

Actions

• Make a Mind (4) check to really register what you saw before it's gone.
  • Success: You know now, whatever these things really are, that "ratling" isn't the whole truth of it. If you have an active Quest that calls for Clues in the Rat Nest, this counts as finding your next one.
  • Fail: It's over before you're sure of what you saw, and the ratling catches you watching. It doesn't take kindly to that. Roll on the Rare Monster table.
