The illusion resolves, just for a second, into somewhere: a shoreline, or a room, or something in between, lit by a color you don't have a name for. It's not anywhere you've been. You get the distinct feeling it's not anywhere anyone has been in a very long time. Then it's gone, and he's bowing.
