Brooding
Knowledge can be food for thought, but it can also be an extinguisher of joy.
Elves have traveled around the world, building nations and fortresses that last them hundreds of years. They have seen what it was like to watch their comrades die, to see their companions wither, and to witness their empires to fall. While their clothes and jewelry may appear bright, their eyes are dull and cold–one that is similar to a blade flickering in the night.
They know what it was like to lose it all, and they aren’t going to go through the same thing twice.
