Piper Puzzlebrook

Piper Puzzlebrook talks fast, thinks faster, and has strong opinions about people who do neither. She's the kind of scholar who reads a room the way most people read a book, cataloguing every detail nobody else bothered to notice, then stating her conclusion plainly and a little impatiently, as if she can't quite believe it took you this long to see it too. Thick glasses sit low on her nose, pushed back up out of habit more than need, and when they do go missing (which happens constantly, mid-sentence, mid-argument, once memorably mid-meal) she goes from sharp to genuinely lost in the space of a breath, patting at tables and squinting at anyone who gets too close until someone finds them for her.

She dresses for comfort over fashion, favoring a thick orange knit tunic with faint arcane runes stitched around the cuffs and collar, more habit than magic at this point (she picked it up somewhere she can never quite place and has never gone long enough without it to ask), worn over whatever practical clothes survive the week. She reads obscure texts for fun, has strong feelings about people who mispronounce old words, and treats every odd little happening around town as a puzzle personally addressed to her.

Her one hard rule: she has an answer for everything that happens on solid ground. Ask her about strange lights past the tree line or a story that doesn't add up once you're outside town, and she changes the subject, or worse, goes quiet. She always has a theory. She just doesn't always say it out loud.
