Saul Vonner
Saul Vonner is a tall, silver-haired Elf who has served as head Cleric of Vulture's Vineyard longer than the town has had a proper name for the job. Elven years being what they are, he has closed wounds on the grandparents and grandchildren of the same families, and he keeps a mental ledger of every one of them. Adventurers limping back from the pass are greeted with a raised eyebrow and something like "back again, and with a new hole in you, how enterprising," followed by the gentlest hands in the mountains.
He is a Cleric of Pavlossus, and his healing shows it: workmanlike rather than mystical, hands like a stonemason's, a faith built on the great ox's stubborn endurance instead of on miracles. Saul works the cots along the Sanctuary walls every day, whatever state the construction is in, and he has treated more heroes than the Trophy Wall will ever hold. He'll tell you stories about them too, most ending with which of their scars he's personally responsible for the neatness of.
Saul has begun saying, lightly and often, that he is looking for someone to take his place. Everyone in town assumes that someone is Selena Grail, and Saul thinks so too. Selena, sworn to the Paladin's path against her Cleric parents' wishes, refuses to hear a word of it, and it is the one subject that cracks Saul's humor clean through. The two of them work side by side at the Sanctuary every day, and neither will discuss it.
