Short Lives, Better Questions
Andrew watches you cross the room and does not pretend he was doing anything else. He recruits from every people that comes up the pass and he is not sentimental about any of them, but he has a working theory about humans, which he will share exactly once and never defend.
"Short lives make better questions," he says. "You lot ask the ones that have to be answered this year."
He turns his cup a quarter turn on the table, which is the only tell he has ever been observed to have.
"So. Ask."
If you ask about the dungeon: He tells you something specific, current, and correct, in about nine words. It sounds like nothing. It will not sound like nothing later. He will not say where it came from and changes the subject smoothly the second time you try, but he slides a folded scroll across the table before you leave, already written, already sealed. Gain one Scroll of Identify at no cost.
If you ask about yourself: He looks at you for a moment longer than is comfortable and then tells you how this ends, or at least how the part he can see ends. He is not gentle about it and he is not wrong about much. Then he counts out 100 (rc) and says you will want it before you want the advice, more than he has ever handed anyone else at this table.
