Angela Luric
| Dicey Dangers, The Creepy Creature of Vulture's Vineyard | Game by Joel Hills |
Angela Luric "The Grim Nurse"
Angela Luric, also known as "The Grim Nurse," was an elven cleric who perished during the war. Her ghost is said to still haunt the area, and many who visit the battleground claim to have seen her apparition. Some say she appears as a kind and gentle nurse, while others claim that she is a malevolent spirit who seeks revenge on those who caused her untimely demise.
Legend has it that Angela was known for her healing abilities during the war, often putting herself in danger to tend to wounded soldiers. It is said that she refused to leave the battlefield even when the fighting became too intense, ultimately leading to her tragic death. Her spirit is said to linger on, forever tied to the site where she met her end.
She doesn't announce herself. Most who meet her only realize partway through the encounter that the cold pressing in around them isn't the evening air, that the hands smoothing a blanket or checking a wound are translucent at the edges, faintly lit from within like a lantern behind cloth. She still wears her field robes, war-era and stained in a way that never seems to lighten. She hums sometimes, an old marching hymn nobody living remembers the words to.
What she does next depends entirely on what she sees when she looks at you. Sometimes she sees a living stranger, and is gentle, apologetic even, for the intrusion. Sometimes she sees a soldier she couldn't save the first time, and she is not gentle at all, she is determined, and determination from someone who's already died once for the cause is not a comfortable thing to be on the receiving end of. Nobody has ever been able to predict which Angela shows up. Not even, it's said, Angela.
Event
Roll 1d6 on a 6, whenever you encounter Angela, roll again to see which Angela finds you.
- Luck(1): if you succeed, she sees you clearly, a living stranger, not one of her lost soldiers. She's apologetic, almost shy about the intrusion, and tends to a wound you didn't know you had. Heal 1 Health.
- If you fail, she sees someone else standing where you're standing. Her hands move fast and sure and not entirely gentle, holding you down to treat injuries from a battle you were never in, muttering names that aren't yours. It passes. You're left with 1
, and the distinct feeling that whoever she was trying to save that night, it wasn't you, and she hasn't noticed the difference yet.
