Stanton Creed

He doesn't come in through the front door so much as arrive, the bat wing doors swinging like they'd been waiting for him. Hat low, boots dusty from a road that seems to have no beginning, he crosses the room without hurrying, without looking at anyone in particular, and settles onto a stool like he's done it a thousand times before. Maybe he has. His skin has gone the color and texture of old leather, stretched tight over a frame that moves like any living man's, right up until you notice what's wrong with it. He speaks slow and even, polite as you like, and orders two whiskeys before he's said a word to anyone. Three years ago he was hanged for murder, killed a traveler for the drink in the man's hand, so the story goes. Whatever waited for him on the other side sent him back with a curse instead of a rest: walk from town to town, tavern to tavern, and challenge someone new to match him drink for drink. Win, and he finally gets to lie down for good. Lose, and he simply orders two more.

Drink with the Dead

Stanton slides a shot across the bar without asking. "One for me, one for you, friend. Everybody's got to drink with the dead eventually. Might as well be a good year for it." Make a Body(2) Skill Check.

  • Success: You keep pace. Stanton nods, orders another round, and the contest continues. Roll again.
  • Failure: The room tips sideways. You wake up sometime later, 20 (rc) lighter, and Stanton nowhere to be found.

After 3 successful rounds in a row, Stanton finally tips backward off his stool, done for good.

  • The contest is won. Stanton Creed crumbles to dust before he even hits the floor, freed at last. Gain 40 (rc) and a strange, quiet satisfaction that isn't quite pride.

Refuse the Drink

Some Heroes don't take kindly to being challenged by a corpse. Refusing the drink turns Stanton hostile.

Stanton Creed Health 5
Reaction Chooses to drink, not fight, whenever offered the choice. Only turns hostile if the Hero refuses to drink and forces the issue.
