Alma Primis

The Alma Primis is The Invisible Ones' record of everything they have done to history. It has been maintained since before any civilization currently standing was founded. The cover has no title. The pages are written in an ink that shifts color as you read it -- the color indicates which of the Seven was most active at the time of each entry.

The book is not carried. The Invisible Ones open it when they choose and close it when they are done. It does not stay with anyone. Those who have seen it describe the sensation of reading it as looking at something that knows it is being read.

Scholars who know of both the Alma Primis and the Alma Mortis have noted that between them the two books account for nearly everything: one records what was shaped, the other records what has ended. What falls outside both records -- what was neither shaped nor ended but simply lived -- is a category neither book addresses. Some believe there is a third book that captures this. The Invisible Ones have not confirmed or denied it. They have, however, begun paying closer attention to certain heroes.

What the Alma Primis Contains

Every significant event The Invisible Ones have influenced is recorded here. The entries do not describe what happened. They describe what was done to make it happen: which emotion was deployed, which of the Seven acted, and what the intended outcome was versus what actually occurred. The gap between intention and outcome is tracked carefully. The Invisible Ones learn from it.

The book is maintained by Surprise, the neutral member of the Seven, whose nature makes them the most reliable keeper of a record that must not favor any single emotion.

The Alma Primis in Play

The Alma Primis appears during specific encounters when The Invisible Ones choose to open it and offer a hero the chance to write their name. This is not a gift. It is an evaluation. Accepting grants the Inscribed Chronicle keyword. See Inscribed for full rules.

The book itself cannot be taken, borrowed, or found. It appears when The Invisible Ones decide it will and leaves the same way.
