Toby Marsh
Toby Marsh is one of the pass's orphan kids, and the loudest of them by a comfortable margin. Small for his age and entirely unbothered by it, Toby has appointed himself in charge of the other children, an arrangement none of them agreed to and all of them go along with. He gives speeches. Long ones, full of big words he clearly picked up somewhere and doesn't fully understand, delivered in a voice pitched for a much larger audience than he ever has.
He is forever collecting useful-looking junk, rope, old buckles, once an entire torn curtain he refused to explain, and he walks everywhere like he's leading a column of soldiers. The adults of Vulture's Vineyard find him equal parts exhausting and impossible to dislike. Ask him what he wants to be when he grows up and he'll tell you, without a flicker of doubt, that he's going to be famous. He won't say for what. He just knows.
