Jorvan Quill
Nobody voted for him. He just decided he was in charge of town relations, and nobody's bothered to correct him. Jorvan Quill has appointed himself Vulture's Vineyard's spokesperson, greeter, and self-styled negotiator of trade, and he treats every one of those imaginary titles with the full weight of a coronation.
He's in his late forties, still handsome in a well-maintained way, though crow's feet have started creeping at the corners of his expressive green eyes and his dark, carefully styled hair is thinning under an elaborate swoop that's doing more work than it should. A well-groomed mustache frames a smirking mouth built for grand pronouncements. His outfit is the real spectacle: a deep red tailcoat with gold embroidery, buttons straining slightly against a growing midsection, a silken cravat tied with more ambition than practicality, high boots polished to a shine, and a half-cape of deep violet pinned at one shoulder with a brooch shaped like a roaring beast. He greets every wagon that rolls through like it's the pass's most distinguished delegation, arms thrown wide, voice pitched for a room twice the size of the crossroads.
He genuinely wants the town to thrive, and to hear him tell it, he's the reason it's thriving at all. He's taken to gesturing vaguely toward the House of Sanctuary's rising walls in conversation, implying his own hand in it, which would surprise Selena Grail considerably if she ever stopped working long enough to listen to him say it. He also claims, with total conviction, to have once been a lead actor on the grand stages of Qi, though anyone who presses for details gets a change of subject and a fresh round of charm instead.
