Dicey Dangers, The Creepy Creature of Vulture's Vineyard Game by Joel Hills

The Frostbitten Choir

Time-Icon.png There's no wagon, no cart, no ring, just two Elves standing close together at the edge of the market oval, and a patch of grass around them gone white with frost that never quite spreads and never quite melts. Their wares are laid on cloths spread directly on the frozen ground: blades that fog in warm air, robes that never seem to need mending, instruments strung with something that isn't quite gut or wire. Nobody has ever seen them set up. They're simply there, or they aren't.

Lira and Faelan Rimesong are siblings, cold to the touch, pale in a way that has nothing to do with the season. Faelan tends the ice-forged arms and armor, silent and precise, testing every edge against his own palm before he'll sell it. Lira tends everything else, humming low and wordless while she works, a sound that frosts the air a little further out with every phrase. Buyers say the humming is the strangest part of the whole stall: not sad, not eerie exactly, just endless, like she's been humming the same unfinished song since long before anyone thought to ask her name.

Event

Roll 1d6 on a 6, The humming stops. Just for a moment, both siblings go completely still, and the frost around their feet creeps a few inches further across the grass before receding. Neither of them explains, and neither seems to notice they've done it.
