Swashbuckler

"For what is life, if you don't have any stories to tell?"

A swashbuckler is precise. People assume otherwise because of the flair, the footwork, the quality of the entrance, but underneath all of it is a fighter who has spent an unreasonable amount of time studying the geometry of a duel. They know exactly how close is close enough, exactly where to position to make the next move inevitable, exactly when to let the opponent commit before stepping out of the way.

They fight one opponent at a time. This is a philosophical position as much as a tactical one: a swashbuckler believes that combat conducted with proper attention is different in kind from the chaos most people call fighting. Body and Luck are their attributes, which makes them sound improvised. They are not. The luck is where the preparation runs out, and they try not to need it.

They are good company because they are genuinely interested in a contest: who is better, and by how much, and what would it take to change that. Win against one and they will want to know how. Lose and they will tell you exactly what you did right.

Abilities

Daring Flourish

Once per combat, the Swashbuckler may declare a Daring Flourish at any point during combat to gain one free attack. This free attack is resolved immediately and does not consume a combat action.

The Swashbuckler may use Daring Flourish up to 3 times per day. All uses reset at Darkfall or on a standard rest in Town.
