Thaddeus Vellum

Thaddeus Vellum has lived in Arcanium Tower longer than anyone in town can say for certain, and he'd prefer to keep it that way. Elderly, ink-stained to the elbow, robes gone soft and grey with age, he answers the door like every visitor is interrupting something important, because they usually are. He doesn't want company. He wants funding, and selling off the tower's excess reagents, tinctures, and old research stock is the only kind of company he'll reliably tolerate.

Ask him what he's working on and he'll deflect, badly, in the manner of a man who has never once successfully changed the subject in his life. He spends most of his hours at the shelf with the six-fingered statue on it, muttering, cross-referencing, filling page after page with notes he burns before anyone can read them. Whatever he's chasing, he hasn't caught it yet, and he doesn't seem inclined to stop trying.

Sample the Tonic

Once per day, the Hero may sample one of Thaddeus's fortifying tonics, kept in a jar by the door for exactly this purpose. Mark 1 and gain +1 Body until Darkfall.
