Vulture's Vineyard Town Center
The road crests the pass and Vulture's Vineyard opens up below you, a small mountain town of log and stone buildings gathered around a single crossroads, with peaks rising on every side and dark shapes wheeling slow circles over the grape fields beyond the rooftops. Woodsmoke drifts from a dozen chimneys, and for a moment the whole place looks like somewhere you could stay forever.
The crossroads itself is the busiest ground in town, but almost none of the bustle belongs to it. Wagons and mule trains roll through in a steady stream, watering their animals at the stone trough by the road's edge and moving on without unhitching. Drivers trade quick words with the locals, glance up at the circling birds, and snap the reins. At the center of the crossroads, an old stone fountain burbles on regardless, its basin glittering with coins that nobody in town would ever steal. The townsfolk are friendly and unhurried; it's the travelers who seem eager to put the pass behind them before dark.
To the north stands the largest building in town, the Entrance to Vulture's Vineyard Lodge, two stories of old stone foundation and weathered logs. South, white ivory steps mark the House of Sanctuary. The Well Worn Road runs west toward the sound of the Farmers Market, and to the east an Ancient Stone Arch rises alone at the town's edge, older than everything around it.
