Runeum Coins

Runeum Coins (abbreviated rc) are the universal currency of the Dicey Dangers world. Accepted across all known realms and settlements, they are the standard medium for buying equipment, hiring, purchasing, and conducting trade with merchants encountered during adventures.

Each coin is struck from a blend of gold and magical essence, making them resistant to forgery. One face bears a unique seal tied to a or faction, giving coins cultural and historical weight — though all are accepted at equal value regardless of their seal.

Abbreviation

Runeum Coins are written as rc in all game text. When you see a cost listed as 80 rc, that means 80 Runeum Coins.

Earning Coins

Heroes can acquire Runeum Coins through several means during an adventure:

  • Looting found in Chests or on defeated enemies
  • Quest Rewards paid upon completing objectives for NPCs
  • Selling Items trading unwanted equipment to merchants
  • Henchman Wages (refunded) if a Henchman is dismissed before their week is up

Spending Coins

Hiring Henchmen

Henchmen must be paid a weekly wage or they will abandon the Hero. Wages are calculated as a base cost plus a multiplier based on Stigma.

Profession Weekly Wage
Caster 80 + (Stigma × 100) rc
Door Spiker 50 + (Stigma × 75) rc
Lantern Bearer 30 + (Stigma × 20) rc
Porter 20 + (Stigma × 10) rc
Ropemaster 30 + (Stigma × 30) rc
Shield Wall 60 + (Stigma × 20) rc
Torch Bearer 10 + (Stigma × 10) rc

Spell Charges

Spells must be loaded into a focus Item before they can be cast. Each charge costs 100 rc regardless of spell school.

Equipment

Weapons, armour, accessories, and other items are purchased from merchants encountered in adventures. Prices vary by item type, material, and any magical prefixes applied.

Carrying Coins

Runeum Coins have physical weight and bulk. A is required to carry significant quantities of coins on an adventure. Coins left behind cannot be recovered once a location is left, so spend or store wisely before moving on.
