Stabilize

Death in the dungeon is not always instantaneous. There is sometimes a moment — brief, fragile, and easily missed — where the body has not yet decided to stop. Stabilize exists for that moment. It is not a healing spell. It does not close wounds or restore strength. It simply holds the line between living and not, buying the Hero one more breath, one more chance, one more step toward the door. A Cleric who carries it is not being cautious. They are being honest about the odds.

Charge Use

When the Hero would reach 0 Health, they may cast Stabilize before death is applied. Hero makes a Body Skill Check.

  • On any success: the Hero survives at 1 Health instead of dying. Death is prevented.
  • On 3 or more successes: the Hero survives at 1 Health and removes 1 Threat Dice from the pool.
  • On failure: death proceeds normally.

Stabilize may only be cast once per adventure. If the Hero has already used it this adventure, it has no effect.
